Silvester war wunderbar, wenn auch anders - und das nicht nur wegen 30°C und Sonnenschein!
Mal abgesehen davon, dass ich dieses Jahr kein "Dinner for One" gesehen habe - man kennt es hier gar nicht! An den Tagen zwischen Weihnachten und Silvester fing der große Ausverkauf an - mit großen Rabatten bis zu 75% (und hier sind die Dinge tatsächlich soweit reduziert!). Eines der großen Kaufhäuser öffnete am 25.12 seine Türen schon um 5Uhr und die Leute strömten hinein, als ob es die letzte Öffnung überhaupt sei.
Ein großer Unterschied besteht allerdings daran, dass es hier kein Feuerwerk freiverkäuflich zum Angebot steht. Es ist hier illegal! Somit bestaunen alle Leute das Harbout Bridge Feuerwerk und es gibt keine Sauerei auf der Straße - wie herrlich!




I was quite astonished about the 'End of the year sale'. People running into the stores to buy next years christmas decoration and other stuff. Of course, there are sales in Germany as well, but in the last years they lost their attraction...
What we use to buy between december 27th and 31st is fireworks: Only the big towns have a common firework and so the people buy their own to lighten it up at midnight - which means there are lots of injuries each year (drunken people trying to lit up the firework is not a good idea) and lots of rubbish on the streets, as everybody lits the fireworks but just very few people pick the rubbish up on New Years Day!!!
So I have to announce - I like the Idea of a common firework!!!!
Another differnce was that I had to spent New Years Eve without watching "Dinner for One" - that's a funny short movie I use to watch every New Years Eve. It seems that this one is completly unknown down here what is quite a pity. But the great party and firework did compensate this really good!!!!!
