Powerhouse

Da es heute zur Abwechslung mal geregnet hat (laut meiner letzen Zählung der 8. Tag in Folge und der 18. in 22 Tagen), habe ich mich morgens entschieden etwas Kultur zu tanken und ein Museum zu besuchen.

Das Powerhouse Museum erinnert mich an eine Mischung aus Camara Obscura, Umspannwerk und Phänomenia:

In einem Schnitt durch, vorwiegend, dem letzten Jahrhundert kann man die Entwicklung von Transportmitteln, Kleidung und Alltagsgegenständen sehen. Es gibt diverse Versuchsstationen um Gerüche auszutesten, die Leitfähigkeit von Metallen zu erkennen, ...
Dann steht dort ein Teil des Kinos König Henrys, in dem verschiedene Kurzfilme gezeigt werden.
Außerdem gab es noch eine kleine Ausstellung einheimischer Frauen und Estischer Einwanderer. Ich konnte Silberexponate von Paul de Lamiere bewundern und 0 Gravidität spüren.
Zu guter letzt habe ich mir dann noch eine Ausstellung mit diversen Exponaten zum Leben Lady Dianas angeschaut: Etliche private Fotos und Erinnerungsstücke, die Spencer Tiara, ihr original Brautkleid sowie 28 andere Kleider und auch die Gedenkrede ihres Bruders, die er auf ihrer Beerdigung gehalten hat und einige der unzählbaren Kondolenzbücher, die die Familie in Gedenken an Diana erhalten hat und behalten wird.


Es war ein wunderbarer Tag und das Powerhouse Museum ist nur weiter zu empfehlen.




Another rainy day - it is the 8th in a row and the 18th in 22 days - so what shall I do on my day off?
After buying another musicalticket I decided to visit the Powerhouse Museum in Darling Harbour. It has been a good decision.
I spent the hole day there, seeing silver, created by Paul de Lamiere. It is amazing, but I am quite happy, that it is not me to polish it...
Design across the time, from Rococo till now. Some exponats which got the Australian Disign awards. Then, there is currently a exhibition of Diana's life: the childhood in Althorp Estate, the wedding, her founds and of course, the funeral: Very interesting and wonderful arranged. I have seen, e.g., some of many books of condolence which were given to the family.
Last, I have been in space and felt 0 gravity. A strange feeling and I can't tell you what was moving, the platform, on which I stand, in a tube or the surrounding...
In the lowest level are different things to touch and experiment: smells, technical and scientific stuff, ...

Just one fact at last: Don't visit it within the school holidays if you haven't gor children! It was very noisy, children crying and screaming and it was very hars for me to touch anything, when there were such a lot children...

But if you are in Sydney and don't know what to do: Visit the Powerhouse Museum - it will be worth it.
