Schlangen und Ken

Am Wochenende durfte ich mit allen gemeinsam nach Armandle fahren. Dort haben wir und eine Reptilienfarm angeschaut. Warum es ‚Reptile Center’ heisst, weiss ich nicht genau; denn neben unzaehligen Echsen und Schlangen sind dort auch einige Känguruhs, ein Emu, zwei Dingos, sowie etliche Schildkroeten und Papageien beheimatet…
Auf jeden Fall wurden wir am Eingang direkt von einem Pfleger mit Python auf dem Arm begruesst. Ich ahnte schon, was kommt – und prompt hatte ich die Python in meinen Haenden. Trocken, warm und sehr muskulös. Zum zweiten Mal in meinem Leben hatte ich dieses Erlebnis. Sagenhaft.
Einige der Papageien leben in einer begehbaren Voliere. Da die Kinder bei Mommy und Dad waren, war es um mich herum sehr still und einer der kleinen Kecken setzte sich schliesslich auf meine Hand. Von dort wanderte er dann bis auf meinen Kopf.
Inzwischen hatten dies auch Heather und Sam mitbekommen und kamen zu mir. Der Kleine wanderte er auf Sams Kopf, dann auf Heathers. Eine gaudi.
Wenn man bedenkt, dass Armandle gute 70km entfernt ist, ist es kaum zu glauben, dass wir nach 90min wieder nach Hause gefahren sind.
Ich käme nie auf die Idee mal eben nach Muenster zu fahren und nach 2 Stunden wieder zurück zufahren. An sich erplane ich dann auch immer den ganzen Tag…

Sonntag bin ich alleine losgezogen und mein Ziel war mal wieder der King’s Park. Erst habe ich eine Tour im Park mitgemacht. Eigentlich hatte ich alle Denkmaeler schon genauer betrachtet – aber es war trotzdem sehr interessant. Zumal ich die Fuehrerin verstanden habe und kaum nach zufragen brauchte.
Nachmittags dann direkt noch die Stadtorientierung in Perth mitgemacht. Ken, unser Guide, war ebenso klasse. Mit kleinen Schmunzeleien gespickt, fuehrte er uns durch die Stadt bis zum Swan Bell Tower. Dort stellte sich dann erst heraus, dass er vor 17 Jahren aus England ausgewandert war, es nie bereut hatte und in 4 Monaten seinen 80. Geburtstag feiert. Ken schaut aus wie 67!!!
Auf eben dieser Fuehrung habe ich dann auch die erste Deutsche kennengelernt: Kerstin aus Halle, die bis April noch in Perth bleibt…


Last Saturday I had spent with the family and we went to ‚Armandle Reptile Center’. A great experience. I mean, there are turtles, kangaroos, an emu and parrots as well. But you can also see various sorts of snakes and lizzards. A guide had stand next to the entrance and in his hands he had hold a snake. At once I knew what would have happened. And I was right: The snake was laid down in my hands! A great experience. After that we walk round and in the end we saw the parrots. You can go inside to them. After a while one of them sat down on my hand and went up to my shoulder and at last he sat on my had. The parents were coming to me when they saw that and the little bird first flew on Sams had and then to Heathers had. A great fun!

On Sunday I had driven once more to King’s Park. That day I did a free guided tour (King’s Park in Past and Present). It is really interesting also I had seen most of the memorials before. I am still wondering that I understand most of the spoken english and merely have problems to speak.
After that tour I went down to the city and did there a guided tour. We walked from the center down to the Swan Bell Tower. This tour is interesting as well. Our guide, Ken, has immigrated to Australia 17y ago from the UK. He looks like 67 but his 80th birthday is in 4 month – unbeliviable!!!
On this tour I met the first german in Australia; she is going to stay in Perth till April.
